Appointment Phone Number – 01638 713109

We have an automated telephone system to improve patient access to the surgery. Please listen carefully to the options. Please note that Option 1 is for medical emergencies only – it is important that we keep this line free for genuine medical emergencies.

Please remember that Mondays and the first day after a Bank Holiday is always very busy. If you need to see your doctor routinely, please try to avoid these times.

How soon can you expect to get an appointment?

Urgent cases are seen on the day. If your condition is non-urgent, you can expect to see a GP within 5 working days though you may have to wait longer if you want to see a particular GP at a particular time.

Telephone Triage

Our telephone Triage system allows us to manage patient demand, prioritise appointments and arrange with you an appropriate time for your appointment – this is achieved by a return phone call to you from our Triage Team (either Duty Doctor or Nurse) on the morning that you ring.

Telephone consultations

If you do not need a face-to-face consultation, the reception staff may be able to book a telephone consultation with your doctor.  Telephone consultations are available with any doctor and the reception staff will arrange for the doctor to ring you.

Nurse appointments

Minor problems can often be dealt with by the nurses.  For example, minor injuries, cystitis and general health enquiries. If you feel a nurse could help please let the receptionist know.

The nurses and doctors prefer to practice preventative medicine as well as treating you when you fall ill.  Our comprehensive health promotion programme is continually being improved.

How do we work

When you register with the Practice you will be allocated a doctor as your personal physician, responsible for the management of your overall care, (especially important where long tem illness, referral to hospital or interpretation of consultant opinion is involved).  We feel that this encourages a relationship with mutual understanding which we consider to be of particular value.

However, patients may express a preference for a particular doctor and should ask the receptionist when booking an appointment.  Patients should be aware that in an emergency their preferred doctor may not be available.

GP+ Appointments

Suffolk GP+ is for people who urgently need a doctor’s appointment or are unable to see their GP during normal GP hours.
Appointments can be made via Reception during our usual opening hours. Please note that patients cannot refer themselves to this service.
The service is staffed by local Suffolk GPs and Nurse Practitioners in Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill, Ipswich, Felixtowe, Stowmarket, Leiston and Wickham Market and is an NHS service delivered by the Suffolk GP Federation.
You will be given a booked appointment and will be seen by a suitable local GP or nurse who will have access to your medical records (once consent is given).
